Linda Sherron Keller

08/11/2026

Mrs. Linda Sherron Keller, age 77, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at her residence.

Mrs. Keller was born September 30, 1948, in Washington County, Tennessee to the late Harold Ernest & Mildred Riddel Greenwell.

She loved Jesus and served in many ministries throughout her life.

Survivors include her husband, Wiley Douglas Keller Sr. Jonesborough; sons, Wiley “Doug” Keller, Jr. and wife Tammy, Elizabethton and Matthew Shane Keller, and wife Amber, Johnson City; grandchildren, James Keller, Lexi Keller, David Keller, Daniel Keller, and Elizabeth Keller; and a sister Cathy Ricker, Macon, NC.; and several nieces and nephews.

She spent most of her teaching career in Johnson City Schools, but she also spent time teaching in Greene County and Washington County, Tennessee, and finally retired from Kingsport City Schools.

Linda dedicated her life to fostering a love of learning in children. She inspired many generations of students in elementary and middle school, as well as college students. She had a special love in her heart for kids with special needs. Even after retiring, she continued her love of education by volunteering at elementary libraries and working in the children’s section of the Johnson City Public Library. Throughout her life she was passionate about instilling the word of Christ in others through classes she taught in church.

Her biggest joy in life was her grandchildren. She never missed a performance, ball game, or awards ceremony. She was always there to encourage them to be the best versions of themselves.

Memorial services will be conducted at 4 P.M. Saturday August 22, 2026, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Kilbourne officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 P.M. Saturday prior to the service.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.dillow-taylor.com

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Johnson City Dawn of Hope or the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre.

Ms. K was my mentor teacher, and many years later a colleague. She had a tremendous impact on my life, both personally and professionally. What an amazing person she was. I am certain she is making Jesus laugh at this moment. Our prayers go out to Wiley, the boys, and the grandchildren. She always told me that she loved her children, but her grandchildren were the delight of her life. She will be missed!

I met Linda and Wiley through our neighbors when we were first married. Linda and I carpooled to Greene Valley where she taught school. She was always bubbly and friendly. I only have great memories of Linda.

I was fortunate to work with Linda Keller in the early 1990’s. She was an amazing leader and friend. Linda was willing and encouraged me when I asked to change the Johnson City preschool from a self-contained and in separate school to a fully inclusive preschool. We then grew to an inclusive 0-5 year old program. Ground breaking at the time. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

One of the best teachers ever. We loved Mrs Keller and she was such a great influence on our oldest daughter Emily who is now a middle and high school principal in Houston. Linda was also a friend to the families she served.

Mrs. Keller exemplified Christ by the way she loved and led others! Our family is incredibly grateful for the way she loved and led not only our oldest child, but also our family. May the peace and comfort of God be with Wiley, Doug, Matthew, and all of the Keller family as you remember and mourn such an incredible human being. Carleton and Sanja Lyon and family

The angels are rejoicing for being joined by a wonderful example of Linda Keller, whom we all should aspire to be like; a truly good and loving soul who dedicated her life to serving children of all abilities, her community, her family and her church. It is a highlight of my life to have known her, have her as a supervisor and mentor, and continue to converse with her well into retirement. Her death is our loss and heavens' gain.
