Jason Leon Daniels

07/30/2026

Jason Leon Daniels, known lovingly by family and friends as "Jboy," passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 48. Born on February 2, 1978, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Jason grew up to become a man of deep compassion, sharp intellect, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved and the communities he served.

Jason was a proud graduate of University High School and went on to earn his Master's degree in Social Work from East Tennessee State University. His passion for helping others led him to a fulfilling career in the social work field, where he provided therapy and professional counseling to those in need. His last position was as an independent Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Nashville, Tennessee, where he made his home. Jason genuinely loved working with his clients on a daily basis, offering therapeutic support that made a real difference in people's lives.

Beyond his professional calling, Jason was a man of many interests. He was a devoted student of Middle Eastern politics and religion, a subject that captivated his curious and analytical mind. He loved sports and was an avid, loyal fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, the Boston Celtics, and the New York Yankees. He also loved playing basketball and could often be found on the court. But above all his passions, nothing meant more to Jason than spending time with his family. He was a loving father, a devoted son, and a caring brother whose warmth touched everyone around him.

Jason is survived by his three sons, Treyvon Daniels, Roan Daniels, and Cyrus Daniels; his mother, Marsha Lynn Daniels; his father, Raymond Leon Daniels; his brother, Jerrad David Daniels; his foster brother, Brooks Hobbs, and an uncle, Morris D. Lay, Jr. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a wide circle of friends and colleagues whose lives he enriched.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, August 7, at 4:00 p.m. at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Jason now rests in the arms of his Lord, and his family finds comfort in these words:

“Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks undone must stay that way, I've found that peace at the close of day. If parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now, he set me free.”
