Mr. Cecil Howard Tarlton, age 86, of Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at his residence.
Mr. Tarlton was born in Limestone on May 14, 1940, to the late Emmit Frank & Mary Alice Showman Tarlton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Tarlton, and several brothers and sisters.
He retired from Burlington Mills as a Machine Technician and owned his own business, Today’s Painters. He was also a Tobacco Farmer in his early years. He loved keeping busy in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Kaywood Tarlton, Jonesborough; children, Jo Lynn Hartwig (Steve) South Carolina, Juanita Tarlton, Erwin, James Wilder, III (Penny), Cleveland, VA, Dale Wilder (Shannon), Jonesborough, and Tony Wilder, Piney Flats; grandchildren, Matthew, Kegan Keelin, Brittany, Camen, Daisy and Rose; great-grandchildren, Maddisyn, Jaiden, Colton and London; sisters, Cleo Boyd, Nancy Wilson, Lilly Kinser; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, July 6, 2026, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday prior to the service.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Cecil has been a great neighbor for the last 15 +\- years. He will be missed. He was a kind and gentle sole to my family over the years. My Festus (puppy) will greatly miss his pats on the head just about daily. ?. Ms. Janie, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Please don’t hesitate to call for anything.
