Mrs. Ruby Sluss Napier, age 99, of Jonesborough, passed away at NHC Healthcare on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 11, 1927, to the late Lilburn and Mollie Sluss, in Dungannon, Virginia.
Ruby attended Living Word Church of God. She owned and operated her own beauty shop and after retiring she served as beautician at NHC Healthcare. Her greatest passion was being nanny to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Clayton Davis and Paul Napier, three brothers, and four sisters.
Survivors include her son, Bob Davis and his wife, Vannessa of Jonesborough; grandson Eric Davis (Sarah) of Nashville; granddaughter, Lindsey Whittington (Brian) of Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Steve Guinn officiating. Everyone who would like to attend the graveside is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
Miss Ruby was a dear friend of my grandfather, WA Jones. She was a sweet lady, and I am thankful to have known her and for her to have shared a season with our family. Your family is in my prayers.
