
Mrs. Vera Geneva Shelton passed away at age 96, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her daughter and son-in-law’s house, who cared for her for the last few years of her life.
She was born to the late Eupha & Horace Hill on January 16, 1929, in Del Rio, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Shelton and several other family members.
Mrs. Shelton attended Faith Tabernacle Church until her health no longer permitted.
She retired from James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Survivors include her children, Ron Shelton (Jan), Gray, TN, Brenda Carpenter (Butch), Johnson City, Carolyn Shrewsberry (Bob), Virginia Beach, Roy Shelton (Lyn), Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Janette & Bob Peterson, Dr. Amy Proffitt, SOFHA Home Health nurses, Lauren Snapp, Megan Long, Amedisys Hospice (especially Jillian), for their wonderful loving care and compassion given to our mother and Paula Reynolds for staying with mom on some weekends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday prior to the service.
