Mrs. Jo Cross, age 72, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Cross was born April 10, 1953, in Washington County, Tennessee to the late Edward & Louise Worley McAllister.

She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church and loved the Lord.

Jo was a homemaker. She loved cooking and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her animals, canning, and cooking.


Survivors include her husband, Gary Wayne Cross, Johnson City; two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Cross Head (Josh), Johnson City and Kelli Jo Cross Tolley (David), Hampton, TN; one son, Gary Wayne Cross, Jr. (Kimberly Dawn), Kingsport; sisters, Karen Hunt (John), Jonesborough, and Patricia Hall (Roger) Gray; brothers, Eddie McAllister (Linda) Roane Mountain, Jimmy Mc Allister (Ann), and Mike McAllister (Lisa) all of Jonesborough; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to send special gratitude to Smoky Mountain Hospice for their wonderful care.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted 12, noon, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Boones Creek Christian Church with Minister Ben Cole and Minister David Clark officiating. Graveside service will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Braxton Cross, Jesse Cross, Bobby Kyker, Caleb Head, Triston Tipton, and Steven Peery. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Head and David Tolley.
