Dr. Robert "Bob" Justice

06/09/2025

Dr. Robert “Bob” Justice, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, June 9, 2025. Born on November 29, 1951, in Miamisburg, Ohio, Bob lived a life marked by service, intellect, and deep devotion to his family.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. During his service, he held positions as a medical platoon leader in the 9th Infantry Division and as an Administrative Officer at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.

Following his military service, Bob built a distinguished career in management consulting and education. He began his professional journey at Morehead State University and ultimately retired as the Director of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. A lifelong learner, Bob earned his doctorate in Post-secondary and Private Sector Leadership and Policy Analysis, reflecting his passion for knowledge and public service.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was first and foremost a family man. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life; long drives in his convertible, new adventures while traveling, and most of all, time spent with those he held dear.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan Justice; his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Carl, Tabitha, and Katelyn Justice; his daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law, Lisa Justice and Chris Jones; and his siblings, Gary Justice and Pam Justice. His presence, wisdom, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral Services will be at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Longmire officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, prior to the service.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans Honor Guard of the Tri-Cities.

Pallbearers will be his son, Carl Justice, his brother, Gary Justice, his nephew, Raychad Vannatta, and life long and close friends, Daryl Williamson, Rick Wallace, Jamie Parton and Adrian Platt.

It was an honor to work for such a wonderful person and mentor for over 17 years. His unwavering positivity and calm demeanor were truly remarkable. His consistent kindness and support made a lasting impact on me and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Family always came first for him, and his dedication to both his work and his love for Sue and his family was truly inspiring. His guidance and encouragement helped shape my career and personal growth in ways I will always cherish. I will miss him terribly. Miss T

My sympathies to all of the Justice family. Bob graduated with my sister Ruth (2 years before me). However, I remember Bob when I spent many hours hanging around with Gary at the house on 8th street, not far from where I lived. Prayers, especially for Gary and Pam. I hope good memories of Bob will bring you comfort.

I knew Bob and Sue for around 40 years. We spent some quality time together. Bob was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with. What a great loss to our community. Sue is the sweetest, kindness, and loving person I've ever known. Sue, my heart goes out to you, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob within the past year. To know him for such a small amount of time, I knew he was an incredible man. Being great friends with his daughter, Lisa, I felt like I knew Bob for years. He loved his family so dearly and they loved him. So many wonderful stories Lisa has shared with me, I sure wish I had gotten to meet him a long time ago. Keeping all the family in my heart and prayers. Love & hugs.
