Ronald Henry Winters

Mr. Ronald Henry Winters, affectionately known by his family as “Tucson”, age 90, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Greeneville Community Hospital.

Mr. Winters was born September 11, 1934, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Howard David & Dorothy Mae Cahill Winters. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Irene Reynolds Winters, brother, Bill Winters, and a sister, Barbara Lou Winters Bennett.

He was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Mr. Winters was a United States Marie Corps Veteran having served during the Korean War.

He retired from North Electric/ITT as a Tech Engineer. He was a founding member of Daniel Boone Little League Baseball, past President of Sulphur Springs Booster Club and Daniel Boone High School Booster Club. He was also active in the Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his children, Jeff Winters and Jerry Winters both of Jonesborough, Rhonda Swinehart (James) of Unicoi, and Brian Winters (Leta) of Johnson City; grandchildren, Seth Glauer (Mary) of Johnson City, Tyler Swinehart of Atlanta, Shea Hale (Chasten) of Kingsport, Paige Hooven (Dalton) of Oklahoma, Miranda Winters, and Emily Winters both of Johnson City; seven great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Durham Hensley Nursing Home and Nurse Melissa Whitaker, who loved him like a grandfather, for their wonderful loving care.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 PM Saturday prior to the service.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

We are so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. We were next door neighbors to Ron, Mollie and family for 38 years and they were the best neighbors we could have ever had. We will always cherish a lifetime of memories of Ron and Mollie, they are truly missed in our house. Wishing you peace and comfort

Rhonda and I have known each other since our freshman year in highschool. I often spent the night with her and I loved her parents, Mollie and Ron to pieces. I don't believe you could have found two better people on earth. I love the Winters family and will be sending up prayers for all of them. My deepest condolences to all.
