Mr. Larry W. “John Boy” Townsend, age 61, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at the home of his sister in Erwin.
Mr. Townsend was born March 7, 1963, in Washington County, TN to the late Bynum & Edith Harmon Townsend. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Joe Townsend and a brother-in-law, Andy Carmona.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Townsend worked in the construction industry. He made small crafts for friends, loved watching wrestling and feeding and watching deer in his yard.
Survivors include four brothers, Kenny Townsend (Nora), Johnson City, David Townsend, Limestone, Dennis Townsend (Elaine), Lenoir City, TN and Howard “Peanut” Townsend (Sherry) Kingsport; three sisters, Nancy Watts (Jim) Jonesborough, Margaret Carmona Rheatown and Connie Saldana (Jesse) Erwin; special dog “Chewy”; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his nurses at Davita Dialysis, who took great care of him.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm Saturday prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at New Victory Baptist Cemetery.
