Elaine Florence (Couch, Barnes) Jones, age 90, of Jonesborough, TN, went to her heavenly home on October 8, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior.
She loved spending time with family and friends, going to church and singing gospel music, as well as having gospel singings in their front yard. She also loved having yard sales, working in her flower beds, working on jigsaw puzzles, bowling, playing slots, traveling, and going on sister trips.
Elaine was born to Jay Couch and Gladys (Ingle) Couch on August 26, 1936, in Jonesborough, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Couch and Gladys (Ingle) Couch; her stepfather, Foy Duncan; her husband, Jerry W. Jones; two sons, Dennis and James Barnes; five brothers, James, Jack, Bill, and John Couch and Frank Duncan; and two sisters, Maude Adeen Couch and Wanda Sparks.
Survivors left to cherish her life and memories are two sons, Tim (Karen) and Greg (Jeannie) Barnes, both of Jonesborough; three daughters, Kathy Pierce, Lisa Barnes (Tom), and Pamela Shepherd (Roger), all of Jonesborough.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Danielle Barnes (Kaleb) of Johnson City; Amanda Worley (Andrew), Chelsey Barnes (Bryon), Brandy Pilkington (Shane), Christopher Shepherd (Tara) and Dennis Barnes (Emilie), and Tequisha Reed (Robbie) all of Jonesborough; Trenton Barnes of Nashville, TN, and Kacei Pierce (Raleigh) of Elizabethton.
Her eleven great-grandchildren include Callie Staton (Ben) and Dylan Barnes, both of Elizabethton; Jacob Worley (Rae) of Fruitport, Michigan; Aaron Pilkington, Elijah Worley, Khloe Reed, Maleah and McKenna Ledford of Jonesborough; Kara Kindle of Johnson City; Micah Wedding of Greeneville; and Jaden Collins (Paige) of Kingsport.
She is also survived by two great-great-grandchildren, Lucy Staton of Elizabethton and Waylon Collins of Kingsport, and four sisters: Mary Davidson and Joyce Ford (Dale), both of Jonesborough; Sara Hammil of Clewiston, Florida; and June Maticic of Elwood, Illinois.
Memorial Services will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, prior to the service.
