William Clyde "Bill" Murray

02/16/2026

William Clyde “Bill” Murray, age 78, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1947, to the late Nathan and Laura Murray.

Bill lived a life shaped by service and strong convictions. He was drafted into the Vietnam war and served during a difficult and divided time in our nation’s history. His experience there stayed with him. He didn’t speak of it with pride and often reflected on the challenges veterans faced when they returned home.

He was a hard worker who dedicated much of his career to assisting individuals with disabilities. His generous nature led him to give freely of himself and to put others before his own needs.

Bill loved hiking and spending time outdoors and had a deep affection for animals. Music was one of his greatest enjoyments, especially the country music of Connie Smith and the Chuck Wagon Gang.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Laura Murray; his sisters, Faye Davis, Pansy Harmon, Ethel Slagle, and Bertha Ford; and his beloved dog, Halo.

Survivors include his son, Christopher Murray and wife Tracy; his brother, Tex & wife Dorothy.

He will be remembered in all the dimensions that made him uniquely himself.

I worked at the Dawn of Hope with Bill. He was a very kind and caring man. He had such a pleasant disposition and I enjoyed being around him. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He talked a lot about his son and daughter in law.

Bill was the sweetest man. He always knew how to make you laugh or give you the truth when you needed to hear it. I will always remember him stopping in the office and singing various lyrics of songs and saying "be good youngin" to me. He will be greatly missed. Praying for his family and friends. Rest in paradise dear friend.

I am sorry for your lose. I worked with Bill at Burlington. He helped get a position in the front office and was always the nicest kindest person you would ever want to meet.

Thank you to Bill's family for sharing him with the rest of us. I got to know Bill at the Arc, him in the adult side and I working with the babies and toddlers. He taught me a lot about the services that are out there for adults with special needs. He showed his massive heart through his work. I enjoyed our talks about his family, his past, those he cared for. After I left Arc, I would still call Bill just to talk. He is greatly missed. My prayers are with you, Christopher and Tracy, and the rest of the family.
