Mr. Arthur I. Shannon, Jr. age 79, Greeneville, went to be the with his Savior, Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by family after a long battle with heart failure.
“It Is Well With My Soul”
Mr. Shannon was born in Wilmington, NC, on November 16, 1946, to the late Arthur I. Shannon, Sr. and Doris Jones Shannon.
Mr. Shannon was a member of Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church.
He was a United States Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Anne Shannon, Greeneville; children, Todd Michael Shannon (Dawn), Matthew Shannon, Kristen Mae Klapprodt (Noah), Rebecca Michelle McGowan (Isaiah), and Nathanael Graham Shannon (Faith); siblings, Doris Schuster (Jay), Mildred Jenkins (Gary) and Joe Shannon (Susan); eleven grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2026, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Hines officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Greene County Honor Guard from American Legion Post 64.
Will always remember Art as "the Commander". I'm sure he was greeted with "Well done good and faithful servant," for his leadership and faithful service through the Awana program. We are blessed to have known him.
