Daniel Garst "Dan" Carder

12/13/2025
Daniel Garst Carder, known to many as Dan, passed away on December 13, 2025, at his home in Sulphur Springs. He was born on January 15, 1943, and lived a life deeply rooted in family, community, and the outdoors.

Dan was an avid sports fan who loved following all kinds of athletics. He especially enjoyed hunting, with deer and turkey season holding a special place in his heart. One of his favorite pastimes was spending quiet hours at the family pond, fishing and enjoying the peace of nature.

Several years ago, Dan turned his love for animals into a small business, raising Weimaraner dogs, something he took great pride in. Another lifelong interest of Dan’s was the study of weather. He faithfully kept daily weather journals, a habit he maintained for many years and one that reflected his curiosity and attention to detail.

Anyone familiar with the Sulphur Springs area likely knew Dan from the Trailblazer, where he enjoyed being part of the daily group that met there to play Rook, share stories, and keep up with community news. He valued those friendships and the sense of connection they brought.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Houston Carder; his grandparents, Willis and Hazel Johnson and Samuel and Flora Carder; and his brothers, Benjamin, Mack, and Sam Carder.

He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Carder Ramsey and Carolyn Carder Maden (Earl); his sister-in-law, Bobbie Orr Carder; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Carder family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to those who have shown kindness, support, and prayers during this time.

The family will have a private memorial service at the farm in the coming days.
