Joseph Leslie Moore, 91, of Greeneville, TN, passed away on November 13, 2023. He was born on April 13, 1932, in Knoxville, TN. Joseph was a kind, generous, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a faithful servant of his Lord Jesus Christ and served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Red Bank, NJ, as well as an Elder at Jonesborough United Methodist Church in Jonesborough, TN.

Joseph obtained a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee, where he was also a member of the Pride of Southland Band. He served in the US Army from July 1955 to July 1957. After his military service, he had a successful career in civilian engineering as Deputy Chief and Division Director of the US Army at Ft. Monmouth, NJ, for 31 years. In retirement, he served as Director at Contact Ministries, Johnson City TN, for several years.

Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Bruce Moore and his son Bruce Edward Moore. He is survived by his children: Leslie Anne Makely (Gregory) of Long Branch, NJ; Laura Lee Regan (Jeff) of Colfax, NC; Barbara Jo Henriksen (Tom) of Greeneville, TN; Pamela Jeanne Cunningham (Michael) of Hartselle, AL; and Gregory Keith Moore (Teresa) of Chattanooga, TN. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Kyle, Abigail, Joseph James, Jeremy, Amanda, Graham, Jacob, Cameron, Hunter, Lindsey, Gunnar, Ty, Spencer and Kennedy and 10 great-grandchildren.

In his free time, he enjoyed researching family genealogy, gardening, and bird watching. He was a proud member of the First Families of Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough, TN, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Joseph Leslie Moore will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

So sorry for the loss of your sweet Dad. It was clear that he loved his family. I remember him teaching our high school Sunday School class in Red Bank, NJ. Not sure how he put up with all our teenage antics.
