Beverly Marie Pierce Sherwood, left her earthly body on August 26th, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.O. and Dorothy Pierce, and her sister, Barbara Pierce.

She leaves behind her husband, Stephen Sherwood, her children Stephanie Sherwood, Curtiss Sherwood, Jeffrey Sherwood, and Stephen Sherwood, as well as two grandchildren Benjamin and Ena Sherwood.

Beverly was a 1972 graduate of Science Hill High School and earned a Bachelors Degree from ETSU in 1977. She spent her career working for L.M. Berry, Science Hill High School Vocational School, and finally the Quillen College of Medicine where she retired in 2016. From her school days, and throughout her career, Beverly’s warmth and vibrance brought her success and admiration from her colleagues. She became a trusted confidant and advisor to many young people in her twenty years at Quillen. She volunteered extensively in the community through the Junior league of Johnson City and Johnson City Schools. She taught Sunday school for many years at First Christian Church, where she grew up and was baptized. In 2005 Beverly was confirmed in the Episcopal Church and became a member of St. Johns’s in Johnson City. Of all her many accomplishments and talents, Beverly was most proud of her family. Beverly and Steve had a love and marriage that lasted over forty-five years. She set an example of kindness, patience, humor, and resilience that will forever be a guiding force in her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm at The Green Room at 127 West Main Street in Downtown Johnson City.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School in Jonesborough, TN, a place she loved and supported.

Beverly and I grew up in First Christian Church Downtown as well as NJC location. A girl with a friendly smile and witty remark even at her own expense. She was so kind when we were growing up and I know continued being that same sweet girl. Her body is healed. No pain. Peace of Christ to her family.
