Thomas L. Arwood, III

10/17/2023

In the early morning hours of October 17,2023, a trumpet sounded in Heaven announcing the arrival and the welcoming home of Thomas L. Arwood, III. There is no doubt that he was met there by his father Thomas Arwood, Jr. and his brother Patrick who escorted him into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While his life on this earth was short, he lived it to its fullest. Thomas was born on October 13, 1971, to Thomas Arwood and Ann Richardson Arwood. The Arwoods were a military family, and it was through their travels that Thomas was able to meet and make friends in many areas, including Europe. Thomas was an avid sports fan and a superb high school athlete, following in the footsteps of his father who instilled the love of sports and fair play in him through his coaching and mentoring both on and off the playing field. It was also through the encouragement of his greatest fan, his mother, that Thomas excelled. He played both football and baseball for the Hazel Green High School Trojans, Meridinville, Alabama and was an inspiration for his younger brother Patrick to follow his example on the football field. Thomas was also an avid golfer and continued to play his beloved sport until he was not able to physically do so.

Thomas also excelled as a scholar by obtaining an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Calhoun Community College, Decatur, Alabama. He most recently completed a program at Ross Medical Education Center awarding him a certificate as a certified Medical Assistant.

While Thomas has now departed this earthly realm, those left behind to mourn his departure can take comfort in knowing that the separation is but for a little while and have the promise that will be able to see him again one glorious day.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father Thomas Arwood, Senior and his brother Patrick. He is survived by his mother, Ann Richardson Arwood, and his Aunts Freida Begarley, Donna Tester, Susie Canter, Uncles Jerry Richardson, Earnest Richardson, Johnny Richardson as well as many special cousins and close friends.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held for Thomas at Dillow Taylor Funeral Home, Jonesborough, Tennessee on Saturday October 28, 2023 from 2PM until 4PM. The visitation will be at 2 PM followed by the service at 3 PM with David Persinger, Officiating.
