Mr. Gary L. Smith, age 74, of Limestone, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a Vietnam Veteran serving as a SP4 Paratrooper in the U.S. Army on call special unit 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from the Johnson City Water Department.

Gary was born on December 22, 1948, to the late John A. & Gertrude Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth A. Smith.

He attended Nolichuckey Baptist Church.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Emma Sue Rosenbaum Smith; two sons, Joseph S. Smith and Christopher L. Smith and wife Amanda; two grandsons, Brandon Smith and wife Cheyanne and Justin Smith and wife Lidia; one granddaughter, Sarah Smith; one brother, Johnnie Smith; one sister, Joann Rosenbaum; special friends, Keshia, Alexis and Hailey, whom he loved dearly and they called him papaw.; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Stout officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Joey Murdock officiating.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Smith, Brandon Smith, Justin Smith, Scott Rosenbaum, Mike Lewis, and Daryl Lewis.
