Paul Lee Saylor, Jr.

02/11/2023

Paul Lee Saylor, Jr. passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, in Johnson City, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lee Sr. and Julia Augretta Gray Saylor. He also lost two daughters, Heather Lee Doan and Janie Augretta.

He is survived by two grandsons, Scott & Nicholas; cousin, Matthew Carder (Zina); two aunts, Margaret Carder of Jonesborough and Yvonne Tarlton of Texas; among others.

Our preacher said it best…Paul made many choices in life, some good and some bad. He didn’t have a lot of friends or family remaining, but a special mention to Carroll and Judy Dobbins, Doris Stanberry & Denny Friday.

Paul had lived a full life with many trials and troubles, but he managed to drive across the United States and back at least six times. He was a store manager at the Outpost. He also worked at Dockery, replacing floors and with various family members doing whatever was needed. His last several years he was in poor health and unable to work but he found time to serve at his church when needed.

Paul was a stubborn, hard-headed man. He knew best about everything; or so he thought. His biggest life decision was right. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior long ago and that will carry him Home!!

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 27, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Bill Murray officiating.

Memorials may be made to Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Paul, I knew you as JR. You were a great friend to my husband and I as well as Margaret and Rex. You were always willing to help in any capacity. You were so great with the computer and always helped me figure things out. I loved when you came to visit us and stayed with us, you could fix just about anything I’m not really sure about this obituary saying things like you were stubborn. Maybe you were. Roy and I loved you and I hope you are with your savior the Lord. Well actually, I know you are. Just know you were loved and you are so going to be missed! Give Roy and Margaret a kiss from me. Till we meet again, rest in peace.
