James Odom

07/26/2018

Mr. James “Jim” Odom of Jonesborough left this side of life to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon at the Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by his family.

James or Jimmy to most was an Uncle, Teacher, Listener, Mentor, Comforter and Friend to all he came in contact with.

James was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church.

James retired from the Eastman after 30 years of service. James was very patriotic and had a love for his country as he had served in the United States Army. He was an avid speed boat racer as he had a huge need for speed. He also had a huge love for all animals as he treated them as family.

James is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, Clinton and Louise Odom and his sister Debra Edwards and several SPECIAL Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife, Fran Odom of 37 years; daughter, Kim Sawyer and husband Wayne of Erwin; brothers, Thomas and Lee Odom of Jonesborough; special cousins, BJ White, Tallahassee, Florida and Jeff and Ginni Story, Jonesborough; three grandchildren, Jaima Price, Cory Ward, and Mikayla Tapp.; special fiend, Allan Mango; SPECIAL niece raised as a daughter “Me Too” Brittany Hawkins and husband Aaron, Johnson City; his pride and joy, great-great nephew Kaden Hawkins “Me Too Unkie”.

A Special thanks to a few of the nurses that attended to Jim, Katie, Jeff, and Simone.

My wife and I are truly saddened to hear about James. He was a great neighbor and we'll miss seeing him riding around on his tractor. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fran and the rest of his family.
