Mr. Owen E. Boyle, age 80, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
Mr. Boyle was born in Independence, Kansas and son of the late Owen Everett & Thelma May Tucker Boyle. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Boyle, a son, Scott Boyle and one sister, Billie Layton.
He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Johnson City and attended the Heartsong Service and served on the Steering Committee. He served on the Treasury Committee, Building Committee, Sunday School Committee at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Raleigh, NC. He was also President of Council at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville, TN.
Mr. Boyle was President of the Homeowners Association in Atlantic Beach, NC.
He was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1955-1958. His job as a Spec E-5 was to monitor the Russian Space Program. He was monitoring when Sputnik was launched. He retired from IBM as a Programmer after 31 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Boyle, of the home; daughter, Kandess Acuna (Andrew), Elizabethton; granddaughter, Lillie Acuna, Elizabethton; grandson, Liam Acuna, Elizabethton;
Private graveside services will be conducted at Fairview Cemetery.
