Emma Eileen Kyker Grubbs, age 87, died on Monday, January 5, 2015 in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Emma was born to Alva and Ada Mae Kyker on April 27, 1927 in Washington County, Tennessee.

She graduated as salutatorian of Washington College Academy and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Tusculum College. Emma was an elementary teacher for 19 years teaching mostly 4th and 5th grade at Wisner elementary in Pontiac.

She was a charter member of Grace Brethren Church in Lakeland, Florida. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, puzzles, playing pinochle, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill, and siblings Cecil Kyker, Leona Ewing, Norman Kyker, and William Kyker.

She is survived by her children, Donna (Chris) Rodgers and Ronald (Clare) Grubbs; her grandchildren Samuel (Stephanie) Gallegly, Benjamin (Erica) Rodgers, Zachary (Emily) Rodgers, Amy (Jonathan) Payne, and Emily Grubbs; her great grandchildren Chloe, Oriana, Lennon, and Junie Rodgers, Kara, Brianna, and Sophia Gallegly, and Malachi Payne; her siblings Mary Kyker and Hoyle Kyker; and her sisters-in-law Virginia Broyles and Mary Lou Grubbs.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services in celebration of Emma's life will be held at Grace Brethren Church in Telford, Tennessee on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grace Brethren Church Cemetery.
