Dr. Anne Sherrill, age 76, Johnson City, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Holston Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Sherrill was born in Houston, Texas and daughter of the late Dr. E. Allen & Catherine Plumbley Sherrill.
She received a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph. D. from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Sherrill was a Professor of English at ETSU. She was the author of three books and numerous articles in professional books and journals. She was founder and editor of Tennessee English Journal and was the recipient of 1989 ETSU Faculty Member of the year Award from PanHellenic Society.
Memorial services for Dr. Sherrill will be 4:00 PM Sunday October 12, 2014 at theDillow-Taylor Funeral Home. A gathering of friends will be from 3:00-4:00 PM Sunday prior to service.
Memorial donations may be made to Washington County Humane Society 525 Sells Ave. Johnson City, TN 37604.

EULOGIES & CONDOLENCES
Thought of you today dear Anne
I was looking for Dr. Sherrill's contact information and it led me here. I
am so sad to hear she has passed. For any family that may read this
condolence, 3 years after her passing, I just wanted to say that she
was by far my favorite teacher. I had her for two classes and she was
a tremendous wealth of information. She was very gifted at teaching
and guiding. I taught high school English for a short time and am now
homeschooling my four children. It is because of her that I have such
a love for children's literature and I am eternally grateful for all that
she shared with me and for allowing me to sit under her and learn
from her.
