Mrs. Helen Vick Blankenship Humphreys, age 82, Limestone, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Humphreys was born in Elizabethton and was the daughter of the late John R. Blankenship, Sr. & Mabel A. Sotherland Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Blankenship, Jr. and George W. Blankenship, Sr.
She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Humphreys retired from teaching after 38 years from the Washington County School System. She taught at Happy Valley High School and South Central Elementary School.
Along with her husband, she was active in local politics and was past President of the Andrew Jackson Women’s Democratic Society.
Survivors include her husband, Kyle D. Humphreys, Limestone; son, Randy K. Humphreys (Joy Baldwin Humphreys), Johnson City; daughter, Angela K. Humphreys (Joseph A. Cashia), Franklin; grandchildren, Matthew Cashia, Gina Cashia and Vincent Cashia; sister, Nancy Gale Broyles, Johnson City; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 PM on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Ponder officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 21, 2014 at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of New Salem Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1185 Bailey Bridge Road, Limestone, TN 37681.
