Milford “Ray” Ochs, age 68, left our presence to be with the Lord on March 4th, 2014 after a battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side in their home in Jonesborough, TN.
Formerly a resident of Galena Park Texas, he was born January 23rd, 1946 in Pasadena, TX to Doris Laverne Ramsey and Charles Gaylord Ochs, both deceased. He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Marvella Ochs of Jonesborough TN, his daughters Chris Schindler and Dana Evans of Texas, brother Billy Wayne Methvin, sisters Tonya, Donna and Sharon all residing in Texas, step-daughter Debbie Ricker and step-son Tim Driver both of Jonesborough TN, step-son Tom Stanfield of Smithfield VA, granddaughter Brandi Taylor and her husband Eli of Russelleville TN, and 4 great grandchildren Victoria Hill, Abigail Kilburg, Joshua Taylor and Corey Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Joshua Hill.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and is a Disabled American Veteran. He worked many years as a master electrician and was part owner of Ace Electric with John Payne in Houston Texas. Ray was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a faithful supporter of Wounded Warriors and Disabled American Veterans.
Because of Ray’s generous heart, he donated his body to the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University for the advancement of medical education and research.
The family will hold a private memorial this week. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray’s honor to Wounded Warriors or Disabled American Veterans. He will be greatly missed.
