Mr. Thomas J. Francis, age 79, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
Mr. Francis was a native of Washington County and son of the late Noah & Allene Pratt Francis Greer. He was also preceded in death by his step-dad, Jess Greer two sisters, Lamiria Slagle and Elizabeth Royston and step-son, Richard Street.
He was a member of Boone Trail Baptist Church.
Mr. Francis was a United States Army Veteran.
He was Vice-President for Pioneer Machinery Company/ Caterpillar. He enjoyed playing golf and yard work.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Street Francis, Jonesborough; two sons, Jeff Francis (Babe) and Allen Francis; step-daughters, Carolyn Blankenship (Jay) and Kathy Holland (Jess); grandchildren, Jeffrey Francis and Blair Francis; step-grandchildren, Michelle Kruger (Jesse) and Dustin Holland (Beth); three step great-grandchildren, Kendi Kruger, Becca & Michael Holland; brothers, Noah Francis, Jr. (Jean) and Orlis Francis (Elizabeth); step-brother, Rev. Bill Greer; two brothers-in-law, Jim Slagle and Larry Royston; and several nephews, nieces and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Jenkins officiating. Music will be provided by Theresa Greer. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Monday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Francis, David Dulaney, Dustin Holland, Jesse Kruger, Jess Holland and Jay Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Pete Renfro, Dr. Sam Wiles, McQueen Sunday School Class, Howard Flood and Barry Flood.
