Kay Jones

01/08/2014

Mrs. Regina Kay McKinney Jones was born March 16, 1944 in Johnson City, TN the daughter of the late James R. and Mamie Wiseman McKinney. She had a passion for helping and serving people. Kay was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and initiated the participation of Grace Fellowship in the Shepherd’s Lunch program of Good Samaritan Ministries, feeding the homeless and anyone who needed a meal.

Kay was on a journey, an Ultimate Journey, to finish the work she was put here to do. She allowed Christ to change her life, and allowed Christ to use her life, for His glory. With an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ, and a servant’s heart, she denied herself, took up her cross daily and “went about doing good for others”. Now, her journey is finished, and she has departed this life to receive her eternal reward, “a priceless inheritance, kept in heaven for her, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” What does our savior require of us except to “seek justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.” Kay did this every day.

She is survived by her loving husband Willis H. Jones of Johnson City; son Brian Jones of Memphis, TN; sister Carolyn Williams of Johnson City; brothers Jim McKinney (Jean) of Orlando, FL and Bill McKinney (Amy) of Johnson City; brothers-in-law Johnny Jones (Brenda) of Greeneville, TN, James Jones (Belinda) of Gaston, SC, and Nathan A. Jones of Mosheim, TN; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Alta Anest.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Nees of Grace Fellowship Church and Rev. Sarah Wells of Good Samaritan Ministries officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday prior to the service.
