Billy "Bill" Tom Ford, Sr.

Mr. Billy “Bill” Tom Ford, Sr., age 84, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

Mr. Ford was a native of Washington County and son of the late Ray E. & Mary “Polly” Bacon Ford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ford was also preceded in death by his wife, Dotty Kiser Ford.

He was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Ford was a member of the US Army (793 Military Police Battalion Association and served during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany. Upon his return, he worked as a Police Officer for the Johnson City Police Department and then went on to work for Eastman Kodak where he retired.

He was a member of the Jonesborough Rhea Lodge #47, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9724 in Jonesborough, American Legion Post 0024 in Johnson City and was an active member of Washington County Democratic Party.

Survivors include children: Billy Tom “Tommy” Ford Jr. and wife, Donna, Jonesborough, Terry Ford, Gray, and Tammy Crowe and husband, Jeff, Johnson City; grandchildren, Chad Ford, of Elizabethton, Autumn and “Stub” Chandler, Jonesborough, Kaitlyn and Ashlyn Crowe, Johnson City; great-grandchildren, Tori and Chase Chandler, Jonesborough; and brothers, Tim Ford and wife Wilma, Jonesborough and Pete Ford, Kingsport.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the VA Community Living Center for their loving care.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Friday, August 9, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Wallace and Pastor Jon Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hartman, Teddy Ford, Jessie Ford, Jim Olinger, Mark Greene and Bruce Bacon. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold White, Roger Clark, David Grindstaff, Jeff McCurry, Keith Moody, Chad Ford, “Stub” Chandler, Chase Chandler, Richard Johnson, special friends, Paul Boucher and Danny “Mac” Keys and great-nephews.
