Mrs. Edna K. Haynes, age 89, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Broadmore Assisted Living, Johnson City, TN.

She was a native of Scott County and daughter of the late H. W. Ketron and Bessie Perry Ketron. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Ray Haynes, two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Haynes was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church since 1974. She was president of Women’s Society of Christian Service for over twelve years, a member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Haynes received her B.S. degree and attended Shepard College and East Tennessee State University.

Mrs. Haynes was a Washington County school teacher having taught in West View, Kings Springs, and Midway schools and retiring in 1987. Mrs. Haynes was an active member in the Tennessee Education Association.

Survivors include one son, Olen G. Haynes (Rebecca) of Johnson City; two daughters, Betty McKinnon, Waterford, Michigan and Kittie H. Stanley (Eddie) of Jonesborough;
grandchildren, B. T. Tallant, Robert Lewis, Richard Lewis, Olen G. Haynes, Jr., Shelton E. Shelton, and Wesley R. Haynes; and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 12:30 pm, Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Jonesborough United Methodist Church will Rev. Tammy Wright officiating.

A private graveside was held by the family. Pallbearers included Bob Lewis, B.T. Tallant, Olen G. Haynes, Jr., Wesley R. Haynes, Rick Shelton and Eddie Stanley.
