Mr. Millard E. Phipps, Jr., age 55, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Hospital with his family by his side.

Mr. Phipps was born in Chicago, Illinois and son of the late Millard Edward & Bobbie Joe Smalling Phipps. In addition to his parents, Mr. Phipps was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Phipps and a nephew, Michael McInturff.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Phipps loved to deer hunt and fish.

Survivors include three sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna & Lynn McInturff, Jonesborough, Sharon Phipps, Mooresburg, TN and Connie & Perry Allen, Jonesborough; half-sister, Diane Saults and husband Glen, Johnson City; granddaughter, Tegan Higgins, Elizabethton; nieces, Kelli Melton and Stacy Shores; one nephew, Matt Allen; and special nephews, Blake, Trevor, Dillon, Avery and Charlie.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Johnson City Regional Cancer Center and Vanderbilt University Hospital for their wonderful care.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service and other times at the home of Donna.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis McInturff, Robert Minga, Albert Cox, Richard Stoots, Billy Gray, Brian Gray, Ricky Laws, Jimmy Oliver, and Pete McGee.
