Ms. Bess Twaddle was a great teacher and a great person. I was fortunate enough to have her AP History class 1977-78. She was dynamic, engaging, very knowledgeable. Her personal anecdotes from her, and Mr. Twaddle's travels were fascinating. (I still retell the story she told us of Dec 7, 1941 and carrying the breakfast frying pan up and down the stairs with each bomb blast. The range of emotions, and the way she told it! I'm smiling now.) Very few teachers, over my educational time, had an impact on me beyond mere facts. Bess Twaddle was on that list. As someone else said, "I looked forward to her class every day." Thank you, Ms. Twaddle. - Doug Whatley, Craigmont HS, Memphis, Class of 1978

To Mrs. Twaddle's family. Without a doubt, listening to her first-hand account of the attack on Pearl Harbor was the most riveting class I've ever sat through, and it is still fresh in my mind some 36 years later. Mrs. Twaddle not only taught from the book, she taught from life, and we - her students are the better for it. My condolences to her family, and although late, I wanted to express my love and appreciation for my favorite teacher!
