Raymond Luther “Luke” Verble, age 81, Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Verble was a native of Washington County and son of the late James Verble & Sarah Verble Norris. In addition to his parents, Mr. Verble was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Verble and Lester Verble.

He was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Verble was a farmer and greenhouse operator. He was a member of the Johnson City Farmer’s Market.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Verble, Jonesborough; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy K. Verble & Kevin, Oregon and Rebecca V. & Scott Simerly, Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim & Carol Verble, Kentucky; grandchildren, Seth Simerly, Sage Simerly, Nellie McKinney, Timothy Verble, Steven Verble, Rebecca Verble, Johnny Verble and Alex Verble; six great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Jean Verble; and three sisters, Helen Greenwell, Thelma Mae Price and Annie Marie Harvey.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Billy Cox and Diane Verble for all their care.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 12, Noon Monday, January 7, 2013 at Cherry Grove Cemetery. Family will meet at the funeral home at 11:30 am Monday to go in procession to cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Verble, Dennis Verble, Steven Verble, Timothy Verble, Brian McKinney, Clarence Keplinger, Seth Simerly and Sage Simerly.
