Mr. John L. Rhudy, 91, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, at the Veterans Administration, Mountain Home, Tenn.

Mr. Rhudy was a native of Washington County and the son of the late Edgar and Nellie Kent Rhudy. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Flora Agnes Black Rhudy, and two brothers Marion “Red” Rhudy and Elmer Jack Rhudy.

He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II.

He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. He loved Gospel music and he enjoyed playing ball and coaching baseball.

Mr. Rhudy was retired from ET and WNC.

Survivors include his wife Myrtle Bennett Whitehead Rhudy, Jonesborough, his son and daughter-in-law; Melvin Gale and Margaret Story Rhudy, two sisters Francis White and Mildred Dearstone, four step-children, Joel Whitehead, Rick Whitehead (Sue), Joyce Powers (Charlie), Debbie Platz (Gregg), a special granddaughter, Elizabeth Powers, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and two special friends Linda Church and Mary Henley.

Funeral services for Mr. Rhudy will be Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 3 pm at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jon Reed and Rev. Vick Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Rogers, Henry Hall, Lonnie Horne and Howard Briggs.

The family would like to make a special Thank You to the staff and personel of the Veterans Administration for their wonderful care and concern for Mr. Rhudy.
