Mrs. Verna H. Barr, age 88, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Barr was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late Stacy & Alice Owens Payne. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barr was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. Barr.
She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barr loved gardening, cooking and teaching Sunday school.
She was a loving and kind mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include one son, Robert Barr, Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis & Doug Fox, Johnson City; granddaughter, Katy Fox, Johnson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Payne, Jr., Pastor Victor Wallace and Pastor Mike Garland officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm Saturday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.
