Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday, March 5, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Victor Wallace and Rev. Bill Gourley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 10:00 am Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be son and grandsons.


Mr. Henry A. Carter, age 86, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital.

Mr. Carter was born in Greene County and son of the late Theodore & Cordia Mae Sea Carter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Carter, two brothers, Johnny Carter and Frank Carter, grandson, Michael Scranton and a great-grandson, Carter Clemons.

He was a member of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He was a life long farmer and enjoyed growing his garden, flowers and going fishing.

Mr. Carter was a United States Army Veteran having served in Luxembourg and Germany and was a recipient of a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Pleasant Carter, Bean Station; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry & Juanita Carter, Bean Station, John Carter, Lawrenceville, IL; Donnie Carter, Rochelle, Illinois, Henry Carter, Jr. Creston, Illinois and Robert Lynn Carter, Germany; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane & Vernon Hildebrand, Bridgeport, IL and Teresa & Mark Dienst, Maple Park, Illinois; sister, Linda Kay Norton, Limestone; and 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
